Mailchimp to GoHighLevel Field Mapping
CRM Import-Ready Contact Cleanup
Want the whole file cleaned? We fix emails, phones, names and duplicates and return an import-ready CSV. $9 per 500 rows.
A Mailchimp audience export has your own audience fields plus a set of Mailchimp system columns such as MEMBER_RATING, LEID and LATITUDE. Most of those should not become fields in GoHighLevel. Load an export file below to get a field map and a renamed CSV that only keeps the columns worth importing. The file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Mailchimp to GoHighLevel field mapper
Upload one of the CSV files from your Mailchimp audience export (or paste its header row). You get a field map showing which GoHighLevel field each Mailchimp column should go to and which Mailchimp system columns to skip, plus a renamed CSV ready for mapping.
Your file is read in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded or sent anywhere, and nothing is stored after you close the page.
What is in a Mailchimp export
From Mailchimp's help article on viewing and exporting contacts (source: https://mailchimp.com/help/view-export-contacts/):
- Only Owners and Admins can export audiences.
- Your export may be a ZIP file with separate CSV files for each contact type: subscribed, unsubscribed, non-subscribed and cleaned.
- Files contain your audience fields plus MEMBER_RATING, OPTIN_TIME, OPTIN_IP, CONFIRM_TIME, CONFIRM_IP, LATITUDE, LONGITUDE, GMTOFF, DSTOFF, TIMEZONE, CC, REGION, LAST_CHANGED, LEID, EUID, NOTES and TAGS.
- Exports do not include email engagement metrics such as opens and clicks, purchase history or the email signup source.
- Contact exports stay available in your account for 30 days.
Which file to import
Run each CSV from the ZIP through the mapper separately. Mailchimp says the contact type appears in each exported file's name (source: https://mailchimp.com/help/view-export-contacts/). We suggest importing the subscribed file as your main list, and treating the unsubscribed and cleaned files with care: keep them out of marketing sends, or tag them so you can exclude them.
How the mapper decides
- Standard fields: Email Address, First Name, Last Name, Phone Number and Address go to the matching GoHighLevel contact fields.
- Consent columns: OPTIN_TIME, OPTIN_IP, CONFIRM_TIME and CONFIRM_IP are suggested as custom fields, in case you want a record of when people signed up.
- Geolocation and system columns: LATITUDE, LONGITUDE, GMTOFF, DSTOFF, CC, REGION, LAST_CHANGED, LEID and MEMBER_RATING are marked Skip.
- Tags: quotes are stripped and tags are written as a comma-separated list.
- Anything else: your own audience fields are listed as custom fields to create before the import.
The mapping is a suggestion. Edit the field map if your account uses different field names.
Importing into GoHighLevel
- Create the custom fields from the mapper's list first.
- Format phone numbers with the phone number format fixer and check the file with the CSV field mapping checker.
- Import a small test batch. GoHighLevel's import help says completed imports have no one-click undo, and recommends testing with a small sample first (source: https://help.gohighlevel.com/support/solutions/articles/155000002517-importing-opportunities-using-a-csv-file).
